STONY MOUNTAIN FARM
We're Dan and Tracy
Our farming journey began in 2008 at our homestead in the Upper Squamish Valley, when we welcomed our first flock of 50 laying hens. Its been said chickens are the gateway into farming and for us this couldn't be more true. We soon began to realize the importance of raising good food for our community and continued to expand raising holiday turkeys, Mistral Gris heritage chickens, farrow to finish heritage pork, all sold through our local farmers markets.
Our focus on whole animal butchery has lead to a small line of lard based soaps handmade in small batches by Tracy as well as a line or prepared meals and soups crafted by Chef Adrian Beaty of Salt and Thyme in Langley.
As we continued to grow and expand, along with our long term goals shifting, we soon found ourselves out of space at our farm in Squamish so in the summer of 2021 we sold the farm and purchased a 175 acre ranch in Buffalo Creek BC, where we can continue to grow.
All our animals are raised on a combination of pasture and woodland giving a diverse forage and protection from the elements. All our feed is certified organic and non-gmo feed to ensure the health of our animals and to ensure they receive trace/micro nutrients.
In the summer of 2022 we will start producing our own hay for our small herd of Iceland Sheep as well as bedding for the pigs throughout the winter. We are striving to begin producing some of our own grains for our livestock in the future. We also hope to open our own small abattoir and butchershop in the near future to support our farm and give us full control over the entire process.
You can find us at farmers markets throughout the Sea to Sky Region and Lower Mainland. Also order online for pick up at one of our markets or for South Cariboo Residents, direct from the farm
